Illness of D. R. Williams @einiol Arfon) [Bardic name]. He has been weak for several months and wanted to go to the Old Country to recover. He suffered from the terrible heat here last week. Fiftieth wedding anniversaries celebrated by David Thomas and his wife of Gass Ave., Allegheny. They celebrated on Saturday of last week. The arrangements were made by their children and relations. They were unaware of the party until a few hours before. Aside from two family ftiends, everyone attending was a relation, with some from Sharon. They gathered around the table to enjoy a tasty supper after which the Rev. T. C. Davies gave a short speech presenting a substantial sum of money [gold] from their family and relations. They spent the evening singing and having speeches. They remembered their wedding in Bedwellty church, Monmouthshire. If I remember rightly, they were both born in Pontlotyn near Rhymni, and they spent ten years of their married life there. They came to America where they cast their lot in Wood's Run, Allegheny where they spent forty years of their life in this couaty, aside from two or three years in konton, Ohio. Throughout the years they have been faithful members of the Welsh Presbyterian church in this city and they are among those who have stuck with the cause even when things were discouraging. They enjoy the privilege of worshiping in the Welsh language. Though the distancp is great to the church in Oaklan4 Mrs. Thomas is faithful though for years Mr. Thomas has been unable to attend services. H suffers from pains in his legs and is unable for go further than the door of the house. Though he has been failing for years, he is quite cheerful and greatly enjoys the prayer meeting when it is held in his home by the brethren. He reads Y Drych faithfully and stays informed with news in this country and overseas.
