Gaer housing estate on the western outskirts of Newport, photographed on 19 May 1933. View looking to the west with the earthen banks and ditches of the Iron Age hillfort of Tredegar Fort visible in the trees at the south-western end of the estate. Note the four tennis courts at the opposite end.  The fields in the foreground are now built over with further housing, although Gaer Fach farmhouse (in the trees, left foreground) still stands.
